FIRST AID FOR APPOINTED PERSONS (FAAP)
 

INTRODUCTION
This course will provide delegates with all the knowledge and skills they will require to provide basic life saving and first aid techniques in an emergency situation. The course includes both theoretical and practical sessions. 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks, where a nominated or appointed person is required to take charge in the event of an illness or accident. This course is also suitable for people who provide support to qualified first aiders.


COURSE DURATION                                                       

One day (6 hours).


COURSE CONTENT

Introduction to relevant legislation:

- Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981;

- Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.

Introduction to first aid:

- Scene safety;

- Priorities of treatment;

- Emergency action plans;

- Checking the first aid kit.

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

Care of the unconscious casualty, including:

- Primary and secondary surveys;

- Recovery position.

Recognition and basic treatment of serious medical conditions, such as:

- Fainting;

- Heart attack;

- Stroke;

- Epilepsy;

- Diabetes;

- Poisoning;

- Shock;

- Choking.

Control of bleeding and bandaging techniques. 

Reporting of accidents/incidents.


ASSESSMENT

Continuous assessment by the trainer throughout the course.


CERTIFICATION

A certificate of attendance (valid for 3 years) will be issued on successful completion of the course.
